Sheridan started the Maintenance phase of her chemo on Monday. She only has to go in once a month! She does have to take meds at home now everyday, but she is swallowing whole pills in apple sauce so that is going smoothly so far. She is very proud of herself! Her hair has also started growing back...she looks adorable :) I will try to post a bunch of pics this weekend from all the things we did in October. Talk to you soon :)
Saturday night was amazing! We had so much fun celebrating with everyone who was able to come :) We started around 4 when Madeline and I got to our tent to set things up for our team. We had a great "tail gate" party before the walk! Our tent was right near the band and we danced with the kids...there also was a moon bounce, face painter and very talented balloon artist. Madeline and Sheridan and I were a part of the program that kicked off the walk. Sheridan was the honored hero for the walk and Madeline and I spoke briefly. It was incredible to see all those balloons glowing in the dark and bobbing along as we walked. Seeing how many people were out there with us because they were effected in some way was very moving and emotional but we also had a blast.
Sheridan and I went downtown today for chemo. She couldn't go to the art room (which didn't go over well) because she has a cough, but we brought some of our own art projects with us. Once we got in a pod she had plenty of fun...we even watched Toy Story :) She is doing great with this phase and will be back at school tomorrow!
Tonight Madeline and I went to pick up A Spoonful of Sugar's t-shirts and wrist bands for the walk. We are so excited! We have almost reached our goal of $20,000!!! Thank you to everyone for your generosity!!!
Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that Sheridan is still doing great! She has been in school and we all went to soccer again tonight. She had chemo again on Friday and everything is going smoothly. She will go again on the 4th. We are getting ready for the walk on the 9th...it will be a busy weekend because Patrick has also entered a BBQ contest the 8th and 9th. He has been using his new smoker everyday at the restaurant and people love it! We will let you know how it goes :) If you are interested in walking with us on the 9th visit the link below...Sheridan is the honored hero for the walk so A Spoonful of Sugar will be leading the walk. It should be a really fun night! Talk to you soon.
This week was busy but we had lots of fun too! It started on Monday when Sheridan and I went downtown for chemo. It was the start of the 5th phase, which is also the last phase before she goes on Maintenance. She will go for chemo every 10 days in this phase and it will last for 2 months. This phase is a repeat of phase 3 which she handled very well the first time, so hopefully it will go smoothly again and she will be able to stay in school :)
Tuesday I had off work for the elections which was nice because Patrick and I do not usually have a full day off together with the kids. In the morning they went to their friend Olivia's birthday party at Build a Bear and each got to make a teddy bear. They loved it!
That evening they also went to their first day of soccer. They had a great time...their coach is very enthusiastic and loves the little guys. He attempts to teach them skills :) It is pretty funny to watch. We came home afterwards and had a nice dinner with Madeline and Andy and all the kids...I made chicken enchiladas :) I tried a new recipe and they turned out great! I love being home so I can cook!
Wednesday was Sheridan's 1st day back to school. She was SO excited :) She is most excited about getting to eat lunch at school this year. She tells me what she wants each night and I pack her lunch in her new Minnie Mouse lunch box. She loves school and is having a great time! Wednesday was also back-to-school-night so it was a late night for me.
The rest of the week went smoothly and we had a good weekend too! Sheridan will be back at school again this week and then she will go for chemo again on Friday. Talk to you soon.
Today we have officially been home for a whole week!!! It is great...life is still very busy, but much more simple. Sheridan and Sam are so happy to be together everyday and we have gotten some great family time in too :)
Patrick took Sheridan this morning to have her counts done and they are still coming up but were not high enough to start her next phase of chemo today. We will try again Monday and hopefully they will be high enough by then. She is looking forward to starting back to school so hopefully she can do that next week as well.
Sheridan came home yesterday afternoon :) Her counts finally made it up over the 200 mark (204 to be exact). We had a really nice evening...I made dinner and we played in the backyard. We even had icecream sandwiches :) We were all so happy to be together.
Sheridan's counts are still very low so she can't go out in public or be around too many people. Anyone who does come over needs to be 100% healthy and wash hands frequently. We are going to do our best to avoid a fever while her counts are recovering. Hopefully this will only be for another week or two.
Thank you to everyone for your support and help...we couldn't do this without you all!
