Monday's news :)

We went down to CNMC today for Sheridan's weekly appointment. Believe it or not she looks forward to going and seeing Karim (one of her doctors) and Katherine, Katherine and Beth who are the 3 women who run the Art Room. She asks to go and tells you who she is going to see. Even after everything she has been through there they do such a good job of making things fun and special that she wants to go.

Today she had a lumbar puncture and received her chemo at the same time. They put her under shortly for this so she doesn't feel a thing. Her labs were great and she can go to school again this week! She is thrilled :)

On Sunday Sheridan turns 4! We cannot believe she is actually 4...it has happened very fast. She has been through a lot in the last 4 years and she still always has a smile on her face :) She makes us so happy! We are looking forward to celebrating!!!

Monday's news :)

We went down to the clinic yesterday for our weekly appointment. Sheridan's counts were great! She went to school today and is even walking short distances again holding our hands. She was so excited to be able to go back to school and had a great day painting and playing with her friends.

Because her counts were up she was able to start the second phase of chemo which will last 28 days. We will continue to go every Monday to have her counts checked and get chemo. Talk to you soon :)

Today's news...

Sheridan and I spent the day in the clinic today. Her platelets came up like they wanted them to, but her ANC dropped. So that means we wait another week to start the second chemo phase and no school this week :( The good news is her electrolytes were still normal so they lifted fluid restriction and she doesn't have to take all the supplements everyday. This is big news for her because she was having to take a LOT of oral meds every day and now we are down to two! She is happy and has a lot more energy right now. She is playing with Sam and loving the weather--she likes to sit on the front porch or the deck and hang out. I will let you know next Monday if we start the next phase of chemo. Talk to you soon,

Back to School

Sorry it has taken me a few days to post...things are very busy now that we are home. Sheridan had her clinic visit on Monday. She is officially finished with her first phase of chemo :) Her platelet count was not high enough to begin the second phase, but it probably will be by this coming Monday when we go back again. Her electrolytes are still stable, but we do have to continue the fluid restrictions. She is getting used to it so it is less of an issue, just a lot to keep track of.

Her ANC (measure of good white cells/ability to fight infection) was over 1000!!! So this meant that she could go to school this week. Sheridan went yesterday and today and will be there again tomorrow. She is having a lot of fun, which she deserves :) She is very weak from the steroid she had to take during the 1st phase so it is also good for her to get back to physical therapy. Hopefully she will be able to go next week too.

We have been trying to play outside and enjoy the weather as well. It is so nice to just sit outside and do normal things. I also love being able to be with Sam all the time and he love having Sheridan with him :)

If you listen to the radio in the a.m. Beale Street is being featured tomorrow morning on Mix107.3...Patrick and Kevin will be there with food. Enjoy the weekend...I will post again Monday.

An "Egg"stra Special Easter

We got to stay at home all weekend!!! We enjoyed the weather, played outside, dyed eggs and got together with family :) Sheridan was fluid restricted this weekend so she wasn't too happy about that, but we figured out some tricks by Saturday morning and it was workable. Sheridan and Sam had fun dying eggs and were so excited about their baskets this morning. Sam was very into the "egg hunt" and every time he found a new egg he would yell, "Candy!"

We go back tomorrow morning for her clinic visit and they will check her electrolytes and counts again. Hopefully everything will still be stable. If things look good they will start phase 2 tomorrow and we will continue to go in every Monday for chemo. I will post again tomorrow about how it goes :)

The Easter bunny came to our house :)

Sam loved the egg hunt!

Heading home :)

We are heading home this afternoon! Sheridan's electrolytes are stable and her counts are climbing :) We will be home for the weekend and then she will have a clinic visit on Monday to check everything out and see if her electrolytes are still stable. We are looking forward to Easter baskets and egg hunts! Hope everyone has a Happy Easter and I will post some pics this weekend :)

Still here...

We are still here...maybe we could be out by Friday or Saturday. Electrolytes are a pain! Still working on getting them all regulated and keeping them that way. Today they took her off IV fluids and now she is getting all the supplements by mouth. She takes most of them pretty well but the sodium is a lot and it is like drinking sea water...yuck! So it is tricky getting it all in her with all her other meds and not letting it upset her stomach. Tonight she was asking for her bed, so hopefully we can be home by the weekend. I will let everyone know when we are home :)

p.s. I forgot my camera this time, so I will try to get some new pics up soon.
