Blueberry Picking

The weather was beautiful today!!! It was the perfect day for blueberry picking so that's what we did. And we picked a lot! Mimi went with us and Sheridan and Sam had so much fun. Sam did just as much eating as picking :)

Update

I am getting caught up on the blog tonight :) We went downtown on Monday and Sheridan had her chemo. Her counts were still up! It was day 40 of this phase (we are in the 3rd phase). The next time we go back will be in 2 weeks, it will be the last day of this phase and hopefully the 1st day of the fourth phase. The 4th phase is supposed to be the most difficult, so we are hoping that it is not too hard on Sheridan. She has been so tough through everything so far. Last week she struggled with some nausea and lost some weight but this week so far she is doing well and the antinausea meds seem to be doing the trick. We just try to take advantage of good days and have fun and then lay low when she isn't feeling well.

We have done very well with keeping her healthy. We did spend Father's Day weekend in the hospital due to a fever though. Prior to that she hadn't been in the hospital since Mother's Day :) Please help us stay out of the hospital by remembering to use hand sanitizer/wash your hands when you come into our house or when you are around Sheridan. Also please avoid kissing Sheridan on the face. Whenever Sheridan gets a fever it is an automatic 48 hour hospital stay so that is why we are so strict about the precautions. We love seeing everyone but we need to see you when you are 100% healthy. Thank you for helping us with this :)

A Big Honor

Many of you know that we are going to participate in the Light the Night walk in Rockville on October 9th. Our team name is the same as the blog--A Spoonful of Sugar. The walk raises money to benefit the Leukemia Lymphoma Society which funds research and programs for patients and families. We are very excited about participating in this event because it is a family event and the kids will be able to participate with us :) We would love for you to join us and walk if you can!

Each year LLS selects an Honored Hero, who is a patient/survivor, to provide inspiration and support to those participating in the walk. They have selected Sheridan to be the Honored Hero for Montgomery County and the walk in Rockville! We feel that Sheridan is an inspiration to us everyday and are honored that they chose her.

Here is a recent pic of her infront of my hydrangea bush--it is incredible this year :)

Christmas in June :)

This summer there will probably be a lot of time when Sheridan cannot be out and about because her counts will be too low...so we decided to work on making our backyard more fun for her and Sam. You would have thought it was Christmas morning when they first saw their new playground :) Sheridan and Sam were beyond excited! They absolutely love it!!! There is a slide, 2 swings and a little play house underneath. Several family members helped us do this for Sheridan's birthday, so thank you to everyone who helped out with this gift. It is SO great!!!

1st Cookout of the Summer

I have been having trouble uploading pics lately and have been trying to upload these for a week. We had a great Memorial Day weekend. It was so nice to be home for the whole 3-day weekend!!! Sheridan was feeling great and we were able to have a little cookout on Monday with Patrick :) Andy and Madeline came over with the kids and they played in the backyard. They had a blast!

Today we went downtown again. Sheridan had to have some skin testing done to check for an allergy to penicillin. It was not so much fun but she did not react which is good news because it means the doctors have a few more options when she gets a fever. She also had her chemo treatment and her counts were high enough that she can go to school this week too! She has been feeling great and is back to her old self lately. Hopefully that will continue :)
